Dream Teen – Season 3

• Do you like telling stories ?
• Does your imagination come alive when you listen to sound ?
• Aren’t you (too) scared to speak into a microphone ? Are you tempted to give it a go ?
• Would you like to get together with other young people to create a radio show?
• Then join the Dream Teen #3 team for a two-week workshop at the heart of an international festival of the living arts (dance, theatre, performance, music, etc.)!

Together, you’ll invent chronicles, compose dialogues and interview artists. You’ll be able to give free rein to your talents and desires. We’ll take you to see two shows from the festival to inspire you. You’ll also have the chance to reinvent your lives, transforming them a little, a lot or a lot before taking to the stage to record your show in public. At the microphone, you can be whoever you want to be and make your voice heard.

A multi-disciplinary team will accompany the group with enthusiasm and panache. Davide Brancato (director and actor), Gautier Teuscher (sound designer and technician) and Nathalie Garbely (head of cultural participation, far° Nyon) will be sharing their experience and technical tips to help them dare to pick up the microphone and play it inventively.

What is the workshop programme ?

• Attend two shows on the far° festival des arts vivants programme for inspiration ;
• Collectively imagine a radio programme ;
• Create a character to invent a story for yourself or to highlight a facet of your personality ;
• Solo or group writing (radio features, dialogues, etc.) ;
• Make preparatory recordings (artist interviews, fictional dialogues, soundscapes, songs, etc.) ;
• Learn to speak into a microphone and create jingles ;
• Friday 16 August: put on your costume and record your radio show in public on the stage of the Cour des Marchandises (central area of the festival) !
• To keep the fun going, we’ll be publishing the radio show on the internet. You’ll be able to share the link with friends and family who weren’t able to attend the recording

Location

At the far° festival des arts vivants (5 min walk from Nyon station)

Dates and timetables

• From 5 to 16 August 2024 (with a break on Saturday and Sunday)
• Regular opening hours: Monday to Friday, 2pm to 6pm

• Two special nights :
  Thursday 8 August : from 14:00 to 21:30
  Friday 16 August : from 14:00 to 20:30 (public recording at 18:30)

Conditions

• A desire to take part in this collective adventure! (no particular experience is required) ;
• Be aged between 15 and 19 years old ;
• Commit to taking part in the entire workshop (10 appointments)

Limited number of places : 12 young people maximum

Participation in the workshop is free and unpaid (two show tickets included).

In autumn 2021, far° launched Dream Teen, a space for expression, creation and curatorial practice for young people from Nyon and the surrounding area. The aim of the scheme is to make it easier for the new generation to access the performing arts and to strengthen the skills that underpin democracy (making decisions together, listening to each other, collaborating with people different from oneself, etc.).

Dream Teen takes place once a year. The young people are supported by the far° team (in particular the cultural participation manager) and artists from different disciplines. Each group is given carte blanche during the far° festival des arts vivants to present its collective creation to the public. This is based on the group’s desires and talents.
